The Somali Community Empowerment Association of Brooks was officially formed on Saturday, October 12th, marking a significant milestone for the Somali community in the city.
The well-organized event brought together members of the Somali community and key figures from Brooks and surrounding areas. Notable attendees included Brooks Mayor John Petrie, Bow River MP Martin Shields, Ahmed Kassim of the Global Village Centre, Alberta MLA Sharif Haji, and Professor Hussein Warsame. Representatives from JBS Brooks also showed their support.
The formation of this association represents an important step for the Somali community in Brooks, providing a platform for empowerment, advocacy, and community building. The event fostered connections between the Somali community and local leaders, paving the way for collaboration and mutual support.
